Day 01 : Bengaluru to Sakleshpur

Fri, 02 April 2015

Morning meet up point was scheduled for 6am in front of the KTM Showroom, Mekri Circle, Bengaluru. Slight drizzle of rain had us put on our rain gear. All guys turned up in about half hour and we started out. The first break point was at 7:50am, followed by another at 10:40am. By about 11:20am, we were pretty close to the resort of stay, so halted to regroup and get a few photos taken. Reached the resort by noon. We freshened up, had lunch and relaxed the rest of the day.

Day 02 : At Sakleshpur

Sat, 03 April 2015

A fine morning and late breakfast whereafter we lazed till about 11 am. We decided to check out a scenic view point and headed out in an hour in a 4 wheeler, except the two of us who rode on our bikes. Reached the place by 1 and walked up a stone pathway to reach the view point. Spent half an hour there and got back to the resort. Relaxed the rest of the day just conversing and good laughs.

Day 03 : Sakleshpur to Bengaluru

Sat, 03 April 2015

Up and ready by 10am to head back. Made a quick stop at the Indian Oil fuel station just outside the town of Sakleshpur to tank up our bikes and rode the rest of the way back to reach Bengaluru by early evening 3pm.

Sakleshpur

Sakleshpur is a hill station in the Western Ghats mountain range, in India’s Karnataka state. It’s surrounded by slopes covered with tea, coffee and spice plantations. The Hemavathi river flows around the periphery of this quaint simple town. The star-shaped Manjarabad Fort (of 18th century) has sweeping mountain views. There are trails that lead to the biodiverse Bisle Reserve Forest. The Jenukallu Gudda peak offers vistas of greenery. The best time to visit Sakleshpur would be during November to April, but this would mean high influx of tourists.

Bengaluru is roughly 217km in distance / 3hr. 50 mins in duration to Sakleshpur. The route to take from Bangalore is via Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan and then to Sakleshpur. The roads are smooth 4 lane highways until Hassan and after that narrows down to a narrow 2 lane.

Here’s a video compilation of clips/pictures taken by members from the group. Am also in the video, but unfortunately the only coverage I got is of my backside. Hmmph!!
